House Pitlochry Camps Bay

This project consisted of an extensive remodelling of a previously existing Camps Bay house to create a unique family home that accesses the steep site on multiple levels. The wish of the family was to live in a house that provides light, views and space. The arrangement of the separately roofed pavilions pays an important role in fulfilling this wish. They pavilions are half levels, which are the result of the levels of the house following the levels of the site.

Our architectural attention was focused on framing the spectacular sea views as well as giving the house a stylish and homely feel. The result is a celebration of the close connection to nature. The materials used include timber, aluminium, steel, glass and natural marble tiling, which are uniquely combined and result in a sophisticated yet understated aesthetic.

The main bedroom faces onto incredible sea views yet also accesses the views of the mountain … behind … in high level windows set between the solid walls elements and the floating steel roof element.
