House Comrie Camps Bay
Glorious Camps Bay is unique and spectacular in many respects, offering magical views of the ever changing seascape and Lions Head, Table Mountain and the 12 Apostles mountain range. It was in this context that KMMA got given the opportunity to transform an early 60’s house into the ultimate family home. The house exerts a sense of mystery created by the strong forms, presenting a blank facade emphasized by the floating roof element and offset by the rectangular vertical sandblasted glass window which screens the stairwell.
A receptive and spacious paved off street parking forecourt leads one past a soothing stone clad water feature with its triad of overflowing bowls towards the dark wood pivot entrance door. Spatial organisation was simply yet deftly planned, radiating off the pivotal entrance hall with the living and entertaining areas to the South and a wing existing of 3 bedrooms to the West. The bedrooms are located on a lower level, which leads directly onto the lush tropical garden. The main suite is located on the first floor above and stretches over the entire living area, enjoying incredible views.
An interesting bedroom with a mezanine study reached by a ‘Samba’ stair was created to engage a very high ceiling giving a unique and useful addition which adds value.
